Calming the Mind
04/07/2025 | By Jeanette Fuller
Qigong classes support us in having a break from our busy mind and to enter a state of presence in the quietness. During classes we practice conscious breathing with movement to bring about a state of deep peace and quiet. Once you become familiar with the movements it can become a moving meditation.
To enjoy relaxation at home simply practise deep breathing into your belly and long exhales. It will help to relax and also if done before bed will support your sleep. Try some conscious breathing early in the morning to set yourself up for the day.

Level 2 Training in Bali
22/04/2025 | By Jeanette Fuller
It was an amazing 15 days of training with Forest Rock Qigong in Bali last month. As well as a deeper understanding of the Qigong movements and how energy moves around the body, the neuroscience of Qigong is a fascinating study. I learnt so much and left with a profound understanding of how important Qigong is to my health journey.
In our Tuesday class last week the focus was on the impact of our breath. In Qigong we use breathing with movement and by taking longer breaths in and out we can positively affect our health. The movement and breathing is a doorway to neural plasticity in our brains.
When we breathe in, we send blood and energy to the heart and lungs. As we exhale and compress, blood and energy is sent to the brain.
We engaged in slower breathing for a minute by breathing in for 5 seconds, hold for 2 seconds, breathe out for 5 seconds and hold for 2 seconds. Try this at home and do this for a few minutes then breathe normally and see how you feel.
I look forward to sharing more about the neuroscience of Qigong over the coming months.
